This page was created at the beginning of the 2021 season and was populated during the course of that season

The WHS system was introduced on 2nd November 2020 and replaces the 6 systems then in operation. Effectively for KLGC this means that it will be effective from the first medal of the new season in April 2021

In Scotland the WHS is administered by the Scottish Golf Union (SGU)

In the new system the player will have a ‘handicap’ called their Handicap Index and the course will also have the equivalent of a handicap called the ‘Slope Rating’

The WHS introduces a General Play concept where you can play for your handicap other than in a Medal and also the concept of the course itself being rated in terms of difficulty – the ‘slope rating’. It also introduces a third concept whereby each 9 holes is rated for Handicap Index purposes and in General Play you can submit a score for 9 holes only

The official WHS Rules can be found here

The R&A have provided a course handicap calculator which can be found here  http://www.randa.org/course-handicap-calculator
This can be used to ascertain your course handicap for any course in the world (almost!!)
